IT03 Advanced Spreadsheeting

This intensive and hands on course is aimed at the teacher who is able to program and use a spreadsheet with confidence and who now appreciates the need to learn and apply more advanced concepts.

This is an interactive day: following the introduction to each section, delegates will be given activities to work on to ensure they have grasped the materials. In some cases trainer and delegate will work in parallel with delegates following instructions live, step by step from what happens on the screen. In other cases delegates will be given guided self paced activities during which they will be encouraged to discover for themselves how certain techniques and functions are applied.

Delegates will take away with them fully worked solutions to all exercises in fully formatted and documented spreadsheet files.

Objectives

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to
  • Use more advanced charting techniques, including preparing interactive, self expanding and conditionally coloured charts, using scroll bars in charts, TREND LINES and more complex analysis and forecasting
  • Use the Data Analysis ToolPak for in depth analysis of data
  • Understand and apply conditional formatting
  • Analyse data using the SOLVER function
  • Analyse data with PIVOT TABLES and PIVOT CHARTS including calculated fields and items
  • Use external database files: from the internet and from other files together with the application of the Text to Columns utility
  • Appreciate the rules of spreadsheet layout
  • Appreciate the need to document all spreadsheets
  • Use many keyboard short cuts

Who should attend

This course is aimed at the teacher who is a confident user of a spreadsheet and who would welcome the opportunity to attend a highly interactive and intensive introduction to some of their more advanced features.
